Year 11 WJEC Hospitality and Catering

You will already working towards your Unit 1 which has International Cuisine as it theme, this we do in class and is worth 40% of your GCSE.
In year 10 the course work was Afternoon Tea and this is worth 20% of your GCSE
Your GCSE Examination.
Unit 2 Catering, Food and the customer is 1hr 15 mins long and is 40% of your GCSE, the syllabus for which can be found at the above link.
You will be given,
A revision guide, a set of revision cards, and past papers in the lessons.

Catering Theory Understanding
Please focus on the ‘Longer Answer written’ ’ ‘PEE’ style questions, worth 6-9 points.
In these types of questions you are expected to produce extended writing, for example –
‘Take-away foods need specific types of packaging. Discuss the Advantages and Disadvantages of the range of packaging that could be used for different take-away foods’.
‘Explain the role of the Environmental Health officer when routinely visiting a catering kitchen’.
‘Discuss how cheese can be used in a variety of dishes’.
Your spelling and grammar is assessed along with your use of culinary/technical terminology.
