How the Academy supports your child's career planning & aspirations

At Kingswood Secondary Academy students have access to knowledge and information on Aspiration and Careers through the academic curriculum.  Staff have been working exceptionally hard to link subject content with relevant careers (for example, a Seismologist in a Geography lesson on Earthquakes) or to illustrate to students how the skills they learn can be applied to a job they are interested in (for example, communication skills in English and History can help a student consider a public service career or work in the mental health sector).

Opportunities for students to participate in activities by external providers have been built into the careers programme.  We have been working closely with several organisations and these form a significant part of the Aspiration and Careers programme, for example, the talent foundry and The University of Northampton.  These would typically range from enterprise activities for small groups (in groups of 10), visits from employees for larger groups (up to 30 students) and assembly sessions delivered by local businesses along with staff to whole year groups.   This will ensure that opportunities available for students suit their personal and academic needs.
