Recently two Year 11 students attended a Science Masterclass Event at Cambridge University. The following is an account of their experience. “We attended a 3 day/2 night Science Masterclass event at Cambridge University over the Easter holidays. It was an amazing event and a real eye opener to not only the world of Science but also to what life in university, studying a science related subject is like."
The PE Interhouse Tournament took place at the end of Term 4. This was the first year we have tried Table Tennis as part of the competition, which was a huge success. This will hopefully lead to more individual sport being introduced in the future.
Tuesday 26th March saw the much anticipated return of the annual Live Lounge music show. Just as a reminder, this is the show that is planned, produced and evaluated entirely by the Year 11 BTEC Music students as a major piece of assessed work.
On Tuesday 12th March Adrian Bagnall, a British Airways pilot came into school to talk to the Year 12 and 13 Travel & Tourism students. He gave a very interesting and entertaining presentation on British Airways and his role as a pilot, which will help the students with their assignment work.
On 11th February 2013 20 students, teachers and former Kingswood staff visited Penyem Village in The Gambia. During their visit they spent three days in the village. The staff were teaching lessons and the students supporting classes in the nursery and the upper basic school.
This week Student Voice took delivery of the new refectory style bins and as promised the litter situation was resolved. All students took advantage of the tray system using them to carry food and dispose of litter.
On Thursday 21st February 2013 a party of GCSE and Sixth Form Art and Design BTEC students visited the Tate Modern Gallery in London to see the Roy Lichtenstein: A Restrospective exhibition. This was an ideal opportunity for students to gain valuable information on their forthcoming projects and units of work.
In order to support our Year 11 students in preparation for their Maths exam on the morning of Monday 4th March 2013, we have made some revision resources available that we are sure will be extremely beneficial when used over the weekend.
